"The
Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has
anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent
Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the
captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are
bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the
day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To
console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for
ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise
for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees
of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be
glorified. And they shall rebuild the old ruins, They shall
raise up the former desolations, And they shall repair the
ruined cities, The desolations of many generations." -
Isaiah
61:1-4
We
believe in God the Father, and in Jesus the only begotten
Son of the Father. We also believe in the Holy Spirit that
empowers us for the ministry. The ministry is highlighted in
the mission statement of the Anointed One, which is Jesus
the Christ. The Bible says that He went into the synagogue
and read from the book of Isaiah (Luke 4:16). He read from
the Scripture that was the sign of the anointed of God.
Jesus is
our crucified and risen Lord. His body is seated at the
right hand of the Father. But, we also believe that we are
the body of Christ. Therefore the same mission statement of
the Messiah applies to those who choose to follow the risen
Lord. We believe that we are compelled to preach the gospel
not only in our words but our deeds. It is a joy to help
illuminate the gospel of Jesus Christ. "The Kingdom of God
is at hand." However, we also believe in the addressing of
the rest of the statement. It is our intent to comfort all
those who mourn and give hope for the future. The ruins that
are found in the statement of the Messiah, refers to the
need to rebuild. Ruins can apply to structures as well as
individuals. People need to be restored to the intentions
and full purpose of God. With His help we participate in
God's redemptive plan for all. We share the love of God, the
salvation of Jesus Christ, and the communion of the Holy
Spirit.
Paul
wrote to Timothy that he was being poured out as a drink
offering and at the completion of his race there would be a
crown awaiting him. We believe our crown depends upon the
work we do in the name of Christ. Our rest with God is
paradise. Our connection with Jesus point toward mission
work He started. It is Christ in us our hope for glory (Col.
I :27) and the glory of God is for all that choose Him. As
we partner with Christ and His love, we gain the mind of
Christ and our goal becomes preaching good tidings to the
poor; healing the brokenhearted; proclaiming liberty to the
captives and the opening of the prison to those who were
bound. All of the above leads to the people of God being
called trees of righteousness, planted by the Lord. We are
obligated to fulfill the mission of Jesus Christ our
crucified and risen savior and Lord. |
