Title: Program Coordinator
Reports
to: CEO, AMEN, Inc. Headquarters
Location: Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa
Duration: Two years, renewable
AFRICARIBE Micro
Enterprise Network (AMEN), Inc., a Christian nonprofit
organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA is
seeking a business oriented, well grounded professional
who has demonstrated successes in designing, managing
and/or delivering business programs. Emphasis will be
placed on personal leadership and capacity to facilitate
understanding of how AMEN, Inc.’s self-employment
programs can positively impact women, youth, and micro
to medium enterprises in Sierra Leone.
ROLE:
The Program
Coordinator’s role is to serve as the key overseas
staff member responsible for managing all programs
in Sierra Leone until a Program Director is appointed.
Working closely with the CEO, and other USA staff
members, the Coordinator will ensure that all required
work is completed with respect to AMEN, Inc.’s
response to resource mobilization opportunities: market
research; needs assessments and feasibility studies;
concept paper and proposal development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Ensure proper
registration of AFRICARIBE Micro Enterprise Network
(AMEN), Inc. as an international Christian nonprofit
organization in Sierra Leone
-
Identify and
secure an office space for the Network in Freetown
-
Manage and
administer AMEN, Inc.’s programs in Sierra Leone.
-
Replicate the
organization’s programs at selected areas in Sierra
Leone, and provide supervision to consultants and new
staff. He/she must be willing to travel extensively
throughout the country to start and/or evaluate programs
-
Develop and
coordinate training programs for various clients, as
well as develop, compile and distribute training
materials. He/she must have the capacity to train
trainers.

Provide feedback
regarding training initiatives and accomplishments to
headquarters on a regular basis
-
Cultivate a
network of partners from bilateral, multilateral,
nongovernmental organizations, Foundations and the
private sector that have the potential to support AMEN,
Inc. projects in Sierra Leone.
-
Identify
possible donors in Sierra Leone in an effort to secure
funding and other resources necessary for AMEN, Inc.’s
local programs.
-
Ensure that
AMEN, Inc. public relations and marketing materials are
designed, developed and adapted to the particular needs
of the donor community in Sierra Leone.
REQUIREMENTS:
-
Post-graduate
degree in international development or business
administration, economic development or rural
development – Masters degree or an MBA or higher
preferred.
-
Three to five
years experience as an entrepreneur, a business
developer or project manager.
-
Significant
career development, knowledge and skills in two or more
of the following areas: business development services;
microfinance, youth development; project design and
evaluation.
-
Working
knowledge of Microsoft applications and spreadsheets;
versatility in using computers.

Strong project
management and leadership skills with the ability to
develop/manage multiple projects independently.

Strong
communication and presentation skills, and ability to
write and deliver presentations to large audiences and
high-level audiences.

High level of
creativity and enthusiasm. Applicant must have lots of
creative ideas that could be turned into self-employment
programs for disadvantaged women, girls and youths.

Fluency in
reading, writing and speaking English is required;
additional local Sierra Leone language skills a plus.
